WORKSHOP // Pete Christie: ‘Shifting Shapes – A new perspective on building bird housing and the need to enhance diversity’-Look into My Ice
Workshop by Pete Christie: ‘Shifting Shapes” - A new perspective on building bird housing and the need to enhance diversity’ The workshop is a sustainable, participatory and including project. Focused on re-using wood from around the area, building the avian nesting cases with school classes or other groups and teaching about the environment while building.
The idea came with the decline of migrating birds such as swallows and the results of global warming as mild winters produce an increase in insects like mosquitoes. Why not try and combine problems to find a solution in one swat? Arraying nesting opportunities during summer decreases the amount of Mosquitos caught by one bird alone considerably and helps strengthen the population of the national bird of Estonia. Our environment and the world as such is in a critical condition. To sensitize or rather wake society up for these vital issues.
