EXHIBITION OPENING // neiumaarja solo exhibition "Despite Everything"

neiumaarja's latest and largest solo exhibition to date, "Despite Everything" ("vaatamata kõigele"), brings you the artist's creative journey through the years. Vibrant and expressive animals and birds take over the gallery hall, offering a glimpse into themes, thoughts, and feelings close to the artist's heart.

The opening will take place as part of Gallery Night Vol. 19 on August 28 at 19:00 in the Aparaaditehas Hallway Gallery (Koridorigaleriis, Entrance No. 2 & 2nd floor). The exhibition can be visited during Gallery Night from 18:00 to 00:00 and will remain open until November 1.

neiumaarja’s solo exhibition "Despite Everything" is a retrospective of self-discovery spanning several years, an introspective look back, and an honest surrender to the creative process itself. In neiumaarja's visual language, the world manifests through the animal kingdom—via surreal, sometimes humorous, and sometimes deeply somber scenes depicting birds and animals.

About the artist: neiumaarja, aka Maarja Pettai (b. 1999), is a young Estonian artist who graduated from Tartu Children's Art School and earned her bachelor's degree in painting from Pallas University of Applied Sciences. The artist depicts animals and birds in various surreal situations. neiumaarja aims to spark questions for the viewer rather than provide answers: "If my works make you feel uncomfortable, scratch your head, or smirk, then I’ve done everything right." neiumaarja’s works have been featured in solo and joint exhibitions across Estonia.
