EXHIBITION // "Everyday Usage"
We invite you to the Estonian National Museum's exhibition, "Igapäevane kasutus" ("Everyday usage"), opening on the 19th of September at TYPA centre!
The theme: sustainable uses of household and/or everyday items. Newspapers, for example, are usually recycled in various ways, giving them new life and function. Reusing them is a universal sustainable practice in many different regions and cultures. For example, recycling practices in Chile will overlap with those used in Estonian homes. During the exhibition, you too will be able to craft things out of newspaper!
The exhibition made its way to Estonia via the international conference "Jätkusuutlikkus praktikas: isetegemine, parandamine, taaskasutus ja innovatsioon" (ERM, 2024) and is based on research work done in Santiago by Chilean anthropologists Tomás Errázuriz (Universidad Andrés Bello) and Ricardo Greene (Universidad San Sebastián). This research explored sustainable ways of recycling and giving things new uses in homes.
Exhibition is open until the 31st of January, 2026. Visiting this exhibition is free for everybody!
TYPA centre is open Wed-Sun, 12pm-6pm
