Viktor’s Joy is an Estonian songwriter and musician, Kaarel Malken, who resides in Berlin. His songwriting and guitar playing is reminiscent to people like of Mark Kozelek, Vic Chesnutt, Jason Molina to name a few. Songs about seemingly random events that have had a profound and everlasting impact on his life.
In 2017, Viktor's Joy released his first album "I used to be Clean". The record was voted the sixth best album in Estonia on the list of the year compiled by Estonian public Broadcasting. His second album, Dog Walker, released in 2021, is a documentary collage of portraits and landscapes shaping the years surrounding the release. It's about change, inevitability and relentlessness. Currently, Kaarel is recording a third album to be released early next year.
