WORKSHOP // Children's demolition day
Come to us to dismantle electronics!
If electrical devices are broken or simply outdated, it doesn't really mean that they need to be thrown away completely. If the device itself can no longer be repaired, many of the parts inside can be reused. For example, there is a tiny motor inside the CD player of an old computer that can be connected to a battery and used to build a toy car.
What makes dismantling electronics exciting is that there are so many strange bits inside the machine. For example, a typical home printer can contain 300-500 different larger and smaller parts; an office printer can even have 1000! There are screws, pieces of plastic, wires... and each part has its own specific task. Disassembling machines using various tools is part of the everyday life of electronics repairers.
Now even novice repairers can take part!
During the workshop, children learn how to use tools, how to open devices safely, and how to sort different materials. We will talk about recycling and new uses for removed parts. We will learn how to disassemble electronic devices so that the parts we are interested in remain intact. This is a useful skill for future repairers. We can sort out the gadgets needed for Paranduskelder created on the demolition day together so that they can be used in future repair projects. You can also take some of the more exciting pieces home with you 😉
The following will be dismantled:
- printers
- smaller devices from every area of life
- unknown machines
We will also practice unsoldering parts from printed circuit boards.
The workshop is intended for children aged 6-10. We ask children up to 9 years old to bring a parent.
The event will last until all the machines have been dismantled or until the last dismantler has enough energy. After the event, we will return the children in one piece, machines are not so lucky!
