About the Author:
Õnne Pärl (1965-2024) studied geology at Tartu University and music theory at Heino Eller Tartu Music College. Her hobbies included playing the violin, dancing, wintery skiitrips in Siberia and singing.
She has performed at jazz, folk and blues festivals in Estonia, the Baltics, and Finland, and recorded 18 songs of her own. In 2001. she graduated Tartu University with a degree in journalism. She has written many journalistic projects for many different publications.
Õnne Pärl has written a novel “Pimeduses kulgeb tee (Tänapäev, 2015)” under the name Aleksander Aina. The novel won II place at the Tänapäev publication novel contest in 2015. Õnne Pärl lived in Afghanistan from years 2006-2007 with her husband Andres, where she collaborated as a journalist and photographer for organizations such as Turquoise Mountain Foundation, Landell Mills Ltd and Save the Children Sweden-Norway.
She is also the author of the big-format photo- and text publication “Armastatud Afganistan” (Raadi Duo, 2008).
